At WikiPueblosMágicos we don't give opinions. We aggregate data. For this ranking, we combine reviews from Google Maps and TripAdvisor, monthly search volume from SERP engines, and real-time availability on Airbnb and Booking. Each signal is normalized to 0-10; the composite score is the weighted average. It's reproducible, transparent, and not dependent on which pueblo our editor is having a good day about.

The current #1 is Aculco de Espinoza, Estado de México, with a score of 10.0/10. It's followed by pueblos spread across the country — this isn't a ranking dominated by a single state.

How to use this ranking

A high score doesn't mean you will love it. It means most travelers leaving reviews are reporting positive experiences, there's real lodging inventory, and the pueblo has meaningful web visibility. If you want less crowded, check our ranking of off-the-radar Pueblos Mágicos. If you want cheap, see our most affordable pueblos.

What this measures — and what it doesn't

This ranking doesn't measure: subjective beauty, hospitality, food quality, safety infrastructure, or nightlife. It measures aggregable public signals. A pueblo with 4.8 on Google and 2,000 reviews has a more measurable quality floor than one with 5.0 and 12 reviews.

Frequently asked questions

01.How is the composite score calculated?

It combines Google Maps reviews (via TripAdvisor), TripAdvisor rating, monthly search volume (SERP), and availability on Airbnb and Booking. Each signal is normalized to a 0-10 scale with different weights; the final score is the weighted average. Pueblos without enough data do not make the ranking.

02.Why isn't San Miguel de Allende on the list?

San Miguel de Allende was a Pueblo Mágico from 2002 to 2008, but it lost the designation when UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site. SECTUR's official list no longer includes it, so neither do we.

03.How often is the ranking updated?

Review and price data are re-scraped regularly; this page rebuilds every 24 hours. Rankings can shift seasonally due to volatility in search volume and prices.
